Our Team

At Happiness House it's all about the people. Find out more about the team who make Happiness House the place it is!

Francisca Retamales

Manager

¡Hola!

Originally from Chile, I arrived in Queenstown in 2017 and instantly fell in love with this kind, vibrant, and multicultural community. So much so that I never left!

I have a background as a lawyer, but my real passion has always been working closely with people, building genuine relationships, and helping others thrive. When the opportunity came to join the Happiness House team, I jumped at the chance to deepen my connection with our local community.

Outside of work, you will usually find me spending quality time with my young son, exploring the beautiful place we are so lucky to call home.

Dani Diaz

Op-Shop Lead

Kia Ora!

I’m originally from Chile and moved to New Zealand in 2018, looking for new ways of living and experiencing life. I’m a journalist by profession, so I really enjoy communicating and connecting with people.

I love movies and random facts about them — I’m a bit of a movie nerd!

I really enjoy being part of Happiness House because it gives me the opportunity to connect with people from all over the world, welcome those who are looking for a place to belong and be part of a community where everyone can feel connected and at home.

Lucca Rodriguez

House Organisational Lead

I am originally from Uruguay, having travelled the world I found my haven in New Zealand, and have proudly called it home for seven years.

Working at Happiness House is a privilege as it allows me to contribute to a lively community hub that fosters connections and creativity.

As an artist, architect, and musician, my love for design and creating innovative community art spaces drives all my endeavors.

Nina Clark

Admin Superstar

Kia ora,

I’m Nina, the admin girl behind the scenes at Happiness House.

I’ve called Queenstown home for over half my life now, so this place and it’s people are a big part of who I am.
Outside of work you’ll find me (mostly failing) to keep up with my kids, chasing them down the mountain on a snowboard or trying to match their pace on bikes.

I feel so lucky to get to work somewhere that connects me so deeply to our amazing community, and see the difference we make everyday. That’s something pretty special to be part of!

Casual Superstar

Kia ora,

I moved to Queenstown in 2016 after my ‘2 year OE to London’ turned into 20 years away from NZ. I’m originally from Invercargill, and spent most of my childhood summer holidays in Queenstown.

I really enjoy spending time with my family and friends, travelling, reading, and going to the gym.

I enjoy volunteering as you get to meet interesting people, and feel a part of the community.

Marie-Louise Spijkerbosch

Casual Superstar

Hello there!

My name is Marie-Louise, originally from The Netherlands, now living in New Zealand for the past 20 years.

Despite the fact that I am still missing ‘back home’, I have married a true born Queenstown local and we have been blessed with 3 children (teenagers now). I love a good walk over the beautiful NZ trails or coastal lines, roadtrips, bonfires, op-shops and being creative or learning a new skill to create with.

I have been with the team at Happiness House for over a year and absolutely enjoy my time spent with the staff, volunteers and wonderful people we meet coming through the door! We all share a bit of ourselves inside this community through activities, op-shop love, cups of coffee or just a chitchat! Always learning from one another, as we all have a story to tell! That feeling just fills my cup!

Anaïs Derbois Molin

Kia ora,

I am Anaïs from France.

I made New Zealand my home 6 years ago. My background is in cross cultural communication, yoga and holistic wellness.

I am passionate about mindful living and community connection.

I love being part of the Happiness House family and contributing to a supportive local space.

Tess Robinson

Kia ora,

I’m Tess and I’m originally from Whakatāne, up in the North Island.

I started volunteering here when I first moved to town a few years ago. I love being a part of the supportive, friendly and welcoming community we foster at Happiness House. It’s a special place filled with special people.

When I’m not at Happiness House, I enjoy hanging out at the library, learning new creative skills and spending time in the mountains.
